AROUND GLAMPING DO ZÊ

Set in a valley of famil- run smallholdings, Glamping do Zê gives you the opportunity to experience rural Portuguese life. There are many historic towns and villages in the area, beautiful natural spots and many restaurants serving delicious Portuguese cuisine.

Stunning swimming spots, mountain walks or cycle routes (if you feel energetic!), this area of Portugal is a fabulous addition to the coast and well-known tourist trail. The calm and tranquil river and its unique natural environment are a hidden gem. Only a few hours drive from both Lisbon and Porto, and an hour from the beautiful beaches of the Silver Coast and Figueira da Foz, the list of options is endless.We can arrange trips or simply point you in the right directions for your own adventures.

SWIMMING SPOTS

Rivers and lakes surround Glamping do Zê

We are happy to introduce you to some pristine locations or just let you know where to look. Here are some highlights.

CASTANHEIRA DE PERA - PRAIA DAS ROCAS

The fun and family oriented swimming pools in Casteinheira de Perra have wave machines and more to keep the kids entertained for hours (30 mins drive)

BARRAGEM DO CABRIL

A beautiful lake with many bays and shady spots for swimming and fishing (25 mins drive)

​

BARRAGEM DA BOUCA

A very unique and different environment to Cabril with steep banks and crystal clear waters.  Kayak trips and mountain bike trails are a great way to explore this reservoir (15 mins drive)

FRAGAS DE SAO SIMAO

The rock pools, weirs and grassy islands dotted throughout this section of the river are stunning and a great place to get a bit of shade in the heat of the day (30 mins drive)

MOUNTAIN BIKING

We have a few mountain bikes for guests to use and can arrange the hire of more.

There are some great lake side rides and serious downhill options for the more adventurous.

RIVER KAYAKING

We have a 2 person Kayak with all the safety gear you need.  It's free to use, transfers to different locations are charged.

You can even take a tent and sleep over night along the river banks!

We also have a large inflatable rowing boat to use.

WALKS

There is a wide range of walks and hikes in the surrounding area.

We can help with directions, provide pack lunches and transfers.

GETTING HERE

BY CAR

 

From the North:

Take Exit 22 (Vila Facaia/Graca) off the IC8 and head south down the M515 towards Graca until you reach the River Zêzere.

Join the N237 heading south and cross the Zêzere with the reservoir on your left.

After 2 kms, take the turning on your right for Matos do Pampilhal - it's just after a local bus stop.

After some steep hills the road flattens a little and there are 3 houses close to each other.  We are situated down a grassy track on your right.

From the South:

From Cernache do Bonjardim, take the N237 north following the signpost for Figueiro dos Vinhos.

After about 5 kms, take the last turning on your left for Matos do Pampilhal (there are 3), it's just before a public bus stop.

After some steep hills the road flattens a little and there are 3 houses close to each other.  We are situated down a grassy track on your right.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

​

Coach:

The towns of Cernache do Bonjardim, Serta and Figueiro dos Vinhos are all served by coach.

Rede Expressso (http://www.rede-expressos.pt/) and Transdev offer daily services.  We can collect you or organise a taxi (€15) from there.

​

Train:

Tomar, Coimbra and Pombal are the closest train stations to us - all under an hour's drive.  We can arrange transfers to us.
